People are finally starting to realise how few truly great designers there are, and how disproportionately valuable they are.

And from what I've seen, financial upside accounts for maybe 30–40% of what motivates great people. The real pull is working somewhere that deeply values craft and lets them do the best work of their career.

If you're bleeding great talent or struggling to get people in the first place, it's likely not because you don't have the cash or upside. It's because you are fundamentally misunderstanding what drives great people.

Last point on this: finding and hiring someone great is the start, not the finish. You need to care just as much about keeping the best people as you do about getting the best people.
