Jason is doing important work for bitcoin: you can read my endorsement on his book cover. Proud we have him as a bitcoiner. I'm also proud of BM for publishing a piece so sharply critical of its own CEO. I'm also proud of the vast majority of replies in this thread, which are supportive of Jason even while disagreeing vehemently with his politics. If bitcoin can be a space where we can have REAL political disagreement--no pulled punches, no fake niceness--but at the same time, we treat each other as fellow human beings, worthy of respect, responsive to reason, and aimed at a common good... then we will have carved a truly special place in American discourse. I think we are doing pretty well at that, under the circumstances. (The internet is always going to contain elements of cruelty and stupidity. This is where STOICISM comes in.)

I don't care how smart you are, or well-educated, or successful in other walks of life. If you do not love this thing, or hate it, or both... you will not keep pace. It's too strange, touches everything, changes constantly. Bitcoin expertise requires obsession. Nothing less.

En route to DC where BPI summer interns are presenting their original research. I supervised a qualitative study of Gen Z bitcoin perception by @theavanunez. Interesting work! Will write a thread on what we found.

I'm in Jackson, Wyoming for this high-powered event with economist-OG-bitcoin-legend @lawrencehwhite1 and other scholars. Some of the sessions, including Larry's and mine, are open to attend via Zoom.

This is why I was so angry last Winter. The court's legal reasoning to deny the motion to dismiss at the time basically said that money transmission includes anyone who facilitates the movement of tokens on chain, and that the FinCEN guidance for who must license is irrelevant. Once you rule on that, the jury doesn't have much left to do. The legal ruling was wrong. Needs to be appealed.
