To do great art as a venture capitalist (great deals, great investments), I believe that you need to have/willing to: 1) take on massive thematic career risk and be willing to be wrong and fail. Fail too much, and it's game over. Every deal matters and is part of your track record, yet you can't let the vertigo hold you back. 2) not hold onto the job for dear life because the moment you do, you become attached to the role, instead of making great investments which require intellectual courage and independent thinking. 3) while also having an incredible level of patience rooted in the love of the game and the sport of venture capital, which, in my opinion, there is no greater thrill personally.
