Do AI models support human flourishing? This is a pretty important question to the industry (and to me personally). We cannot repeat the ills of social media click rates driving behavior...AI in general (and foundational models in particular) are much too important. To find answers, our team at @gloo has created the Flourishing AI (FAI) Benchmark. It introduces a new method to evaluate AI systems across seven dimensions: Character, Relationships, Happiness, Meaning, Health, Finances, and Faith. Our goal is to see all models reach flourishing standards at or above 90% and today that journey begins. We found that current AI models demonstrate strengths in pragmatic domains (like Happiness and Financial Stability), but all models fell short of achieving balanced performance across the full spectrum of dimensions, particularly struggling in ethical reasoning, existential reflection, and spirituality. We’re just getting started with the FAI Benchmark and are sharing it openly to invite peer review, refinement, and broader collaboration.
