Progress so far: - ~90% drop in low-quality restrictions (cases without self-serve resolution or failing our quality guardrails) - Much more efficient product flows now help the small % of users who do get restricted get unrestricted faster - Time to resolve 80% of user restrictions is down 94% since March - Customer satisfaction (CSAT) when restricted is up +20% YTD and at an all-time high — though we’re starting from a low baseline and know there’s still more to do - Progress will only accelerate, with several bigger initiatives yet to fully ramp. User context: - Experienced crypto user - Regular transaction history - Makes crypto sends frequently Flags (in last 30 days): - Logins from 4+ countries - Multiple 2FA authentication failures - Brand new login device, never seen before - Intermittent VPN use The transaction: - Small test send to completely empty/new wallet (no activity on any chain) - 2 minutes later: attempts to send ~95% of their balance - Is the largest send they have ever done (life-changing money) This is a real scenario our fraud models/analysts faced. This is the wrong take. Organizations of all sizes get hacked, including every US government agency from the IRS to State Department. Protecting all data is a Sisyphean task. Coinbase DOES NOT WANT to have most of this kind of data, it's a huge liability (clearly). They have it because they are legally required to, by the government. This is just one of the dark consequences of state-enforced financial surveillance. KYC *is* the crime.

Last November we announced the sale of @smlxldotio to @Dune; last month I left and joined @Coinbase. Since the acquisition, my DMs play the same track: “wen back?” “Why isn’t improving?” “When will ship something new?” —as if I still have an undo button. Those projects now ride in capable hands I no longer steer. I miss the @smlxldotio crew and respect @Dune, but my compass pointed elsewhere on culture, product, and strategy, so we shook hands and moved on. I’m rooting for them—but I reserve the right to wince when something we sweated over disappears, or re-emerges in rougher form. Founders earn that privilege.
