Un equipo de investigadores japoneses logró un récord mundial de velocidad de Internet de 1,02 petabits (1 millón de GB por segundo) a lo largo de 1.800 km utilizando una fibra óptica de 19 núcleos.
Esta tecnología, que no es más gruesa que las fibras existentes, puede soportar futuras demandas de datos de IA, RV y 6G.
Este avance resuelve el desafío de amplificar señales en todos los núcleos a través de dos bandas de luz sin interferencias.
El producto récord de capacidad-distancia de Japón de 1,86 exabits por segundo-km establece un nuevo hito para la infraestructura de Internet de ultra alta velocidad y larga distancia.
