A very smart friend told me today that he believes markets are shifting (or have already been shifting) from "reality measuring machines" to "reality generating machines." In other words, reality moves towards a consensus price that indicates a shared future we desire at a faster rate than the inverse, especially for assets centered around social phenomena and ideas that society values. I can't stop thinking about this since our conversation.
