Mini-Essay: 'Code Yellow' And Protecting Your Magic Internet Coins .... Alright lads... Sentiments are getting euphoric... but I wanted to encourage you to stay very INTENTIONAL and HYPERVIGILANT out there... At these kind of times it is easy to start feeling massive fomo and an aggressive inclination to jump at new opportunities and therefore also easy to overlook basic security measures. As a result it is important to always stay at CODE YELLOW as regards crypto. What is 'code yellow'? It is basically a heuristic regarding mindset/stress/focus based on color tiers. It is often used in the context of security, military stuff, and etc - however I find it immensely useful across all sorts of domains. Here are the various tiers: --- Code White = not a care in the world, totally relaxed, not worried about anything --- Code Yellow = aware, mindful of security, double-checking things, alert but no active adrenaline --- Code Orange = heart is pumping faster than normal, moderate adrenaline flow, very alert, hyper-focused --- Code Red = full adrenaline, heart pounding, 100% locked in on emergency situation (or high-level sporting event, fistfight, life and death type stuff, etc) --- Code Black = completely blacking out, throwing up, losing control of bodily functions, basically the point at which the stress response has reached unproductive levels So... how does this relate to crypto? Well... I would suggest that anytime you are dealing with crypto, you should be at code yellow rather than code white. Sovereign, self-custodied, permissionless money is an incredible gift, but its also an incredible responsibility. If you make your way around the on-chain world in 'code white' without a care in the world- signing transactions without a second glance, aping into every degenerate yield farm you see, opening every attachment you are dm'd, and etc- you are very likely to lose your money. That doesn't mean you need to be freaking out constantly- in code orange or red- but you should be HYPER-VIGILANT and INTENTIONAL at all times. You should be in 'code yellow'. ... Even in terms of social skills, much of what is called 'charisma' is the ability to stay in 'code yellow' from an interpersonal standpoint. For instance the socially ill-adept often vacillate between extremes... They are either super nervous and in 'code orange' or 'code red' socially (especially around attractive girls, etc)... OR... they get too comfortable and go into 'code white' and start saying every dumb thought that comes into their head without any intentionality behind it... Whereas the proverbial rizz-maxxed gigachad of lore is able to just stay in the interpersonal equivalent of 'code yellow' and be purposeful about what it is he is saying but also totally relaxed and comfortable at the same time.
