Dems gave the Teamsters $36B of taxpayer dollars in 2023 to bail out their insolvent pensions. Averted a 60% benefit cut to all retirees. Republicans were strongly opposed. In response, the members decided to back Trump 58-31 in 2024. So I imagine there's no love lost.

I don't think abandoning working class union voters is a good idea, but this very clearly shows the limits of economic support in the face of the culture war. Non-college white men are just pretty socially conservative.

Not all, or even most unions are like this mind you. E.g. the Culinary Union in NV has been absolutely essential to Democrats for decades.
