The most fascinating thing about ChatGPT-5 (without even having tried it yet) is that half of the reviews I see, seem to say it's garbage and a flop and the other half that it's the best thing since sliced bread.

There is a workaround to this. Just forbid it to route the request to anything other than GPT-5.
But again the lack of transparency of the model used, creates confusion and leads to conflicting opinions on gpt-5 models performance.
