The next wave of influencers aren’t content creators. They’re hosts.
@voguebusiness predicts that the ones who can gather people IRL and create a lasting sense of belonging hold the most valuable currency in culture today: social capital.
We’ve moved from “BRB” to always on. Constant availability has created a hunger for grounded, in-person connection. Hosts who can deliver that own the meta.
The best hosts filter their events the way they filter partnerships:
- Will people learn something?
- Will they have fun?
- Will it open doors?
At least one has to be “yes” for it to be worth it.
The easiest way to show up is usually the least effective. True impact comes from co-creation, shared investment, and committing beyond a single event.
Clubs are everywhere now. Without time, care, and intention, they disappear as quickly as they appear. Numbers don’t build belonging.
There are a few people in Web3 who pull the best events and theirs always get crazy packed. You know exactly who they are. That’s not luck. That’s social capital in action.
@pukecast has done this with their Touch Grass and Pick Me Up events and the @pudgypenguins community event formula works because it’s built on belonging not clout.
Last year, we at @gatherbeyond contributed to over 200 events, online, offline, and across different parts of the world. For IRL, we keep gatherings intimate and every attendee carefully curated.
Think about DevCon or Token2049, when the event list stretches past 1,000. Which ones do you actually attend? It’s the ones where you know the room will be worth your time.
In Web3, where hype cycles move faster than bear markets, the real flex won’t be your follower count. It will be how many people show up again and again because you made them feel like they belong.
