Also, calling @danrobinson 'a few loud voices' is not convincing for me. Dan has been involved in many critical DeFi and protocol papers, regularly collaborates with many blockchain builders and analyzes protocols in depth. I am afraid that some of the most busy experts will always naturally activate very close to the final decision point. Good solutions / good choices will naturally survive questioning and it is very healthy to welcome such dialog. I would consider it a strength of Ethereum that additional layers of reviews (product, UX, security, etc.) are activated ~9 months before they are planned to be shipped. We are opening paid bug bounties for security researchers. I think it is fine to always take seriously major concerns about the mechanism design. If the design is good, it will survive, and will get shipped with more confidence.
