SonicDB removes read amplification by storing state in binary files instead of a key-value database. On the first 11 million blocks of the Sonic mainnet, we measured ~1,300 MGas/s. A comparable Geth setup reached ~210 MGas/s. I'm proud of our team for continuing to identify and remove foundational constraints rather than optimizing around them.
