Scaling @ethereum has been the main barrier to global adoption. The dual L1 & L2 scaling strategy finally removes it. Our co-founder @neburo discusses the evolving Ethereum roadmap & why the new strategy is the path forward. Get insights here: 🧵
The new Ethereum roadmap aims at 100,000 TPS across the EVM ecosystem. But @Dune’s data shows that EVM chains already process a high number of complex txs in production. In the previous year: 👉 @base reached 1,298 peak TPS 👉 @arbitrum hit 779 peak TPS
The underlying tech to support this evolution is already here. The new EIP-9698 to increase the gas limit 100x could bring Ethereum’s TPS to 2,000. And as @notnotstorm shares, some node clients already support 80 to 280x higher gas limit than currently used.
Also, @VitalikButerin emphasizes that the upcoming Fusaka upgrade and ongoing improvements in blob capacity & data compression could help reach the combined 100,000 TPS. He also explores RISC-V as an alternative for the EVM for faster ZK proof generation and better performance.
This progression to a higher TPS on Ethereum & other EVM chains changes what’s possible onchain, enabling: 🔹 Economically viable micropayments 🔹 New DeFi & gaming use cases 🔹 Web2 companies & institutions adopting the tech 🔹 Increased dapp usage & better monetization
The dual L1 & L2 scaling strategy makes blockchain technology economically viable & scalable without compromising decentralization and security. This shift brings us closer to Ethereum powering the World Computer, unlocking a new era for the ecosystem.
