There are now over 1.089M active validators securing Ethereum Mainnet, staking a total of 35.74M ETH. But not all validators are the same. Thread on how they’re categorized based on their withdrawal credentials 👇

1/ Out of all 1,089,705 active validators: • 98.58% (1.074M) use 0x01 credentials → these have full withdrawal capability. • 1.05% (11.4K) are BLS (0x00) → legacy format, no withdrawal. • 0.37% (4,041) are 0x02 → compounding validators.

2/ Compounding validators (0x02) automatically restake their rewards. They currently hold: • 1,005,250 ETH. • Across just 4,041 validators. That’s ~2.8% of all staked ETH, and ~0.37% of validator count.

3/ Here’s the ETH distribution by validator type: • Distributing (0x01): 34.375M ETH → 96.16% • Compounding (0x02): 1.005M ETH → 2.81% • BLS (0x00): 365.749K ETH → 1.02% The vast majority have switched to the newer, more flexible withdrawal approaches.
