There’s actually a strong reason why Bitcoin arrived before (generative) AI. Both are downstream of computing power and Moore’s law. Bitcoin also required mass adoption of cryptography (which up until 1999 was heavily export controlled), and a macro environment that cried out for an alternative monetary system (2008 GFC). But the building blocks had been lying dormant since the 1990s. AI could only happen post 2010 when the chips suddenly got powerful enough for neural nets to start working.

Looks like someone saw @Zone21BTC and within a month, vibe-coded and launched a clone, Replit style. (To their credit, they expanded the idea beyond Bitcoin lending, which remains Zone21’s focus and solves something we personally run into). It’s to be expected in the age of AI, but still amusing to think about. 😀 Within 5 years, every idea, article, podcast, video, website can be trivially cloned. Not just one clone, anything worth anything will have several clones. What will separate signal from noise in that kind of world are 2 things: Proof-of-Work, and Web-of-Trust-and-Reputation. Else you’ll be maximally overloaded with AI slop.
