$TOWNS launches tomorrow. Eligible users will be able to stake to their favorite Town during the claim process. Staking to a Town is the key to unlock features and future rewards.

The Society of Self-Hosters (SSH) is a Town for people who prefer to run their own infrastructure. Some are building homelabs, others manage production systems but all value ownership and staying close to what they operate. They share a commitment to understanding the systems they use and taking responsibility for how those systems run. SSH uses the Towns app, which runs on a network of nodes instead of a single company’s servers. It’s a setup that fits a community focused on control, transparency, and independence. Inside the Town, members actively share knowledge and support each other. The membership fee helps fund that work covering documentation, guides, and early efforts to support members who want to run their own Towns node.

Some of the biggest Towns on the app today started as a group between two people. Today, many have grown into thriving communities where creators can earn by offering exclusive access and experiences. Our Explore page offers a glimpse of communities finding their way.

Shillr x WDAL is an asset-gated community on Towns that brings together two sides of crypto culture: onchain media and creative consulting. WDAL is a longform podcast known for its candid, thoughtful conversations with guests across the crypto space. Shillr is a consulting agency working with artists, collectors, and independent projects. Together, they’ve built a shared Town where their audiences connect, coordinate, and support each other. Access is gated by holders of Shillr x WDAL passes, which are assets that tie directly into the podcasts and its community. Episodes are minted onchain, collected by listeners, and used as entry points into the group. The Town itself has become a hub for art appreciation, collecting, and creative activation, with artists, collectors, and fans sharing the same space.

Ken, a mentor at The Lab, runs a personal trading group on Towns called Ken Charts where he shares live setups, educational content, and daily trading reviews for anyone looking to improve their understanding of the markets. He recently joined our platform to bring everything under one roof. A private setup where members follow calls, send tips, and trade without leaving our app. The community is still early, just like many of Ken's solid calls.
