language is the last defense of the slow game.
If @ethereum wants to blend some amount of fast "heartbeat" confirmations with a slower and more resilient trailing finalization protocol, they should learn from and possibly just straight-up use @zcash's world-class work on the Trailing Finality Layer. The constructions are converging, and in my view @zcash has made very clear arguments as to why bounded availability is a better choice to keep users safe which also apply to @ethereum.

Stop the Gaslighting
In this episode of Deeply Intents (🎙️,🎧), I chat with @Jskybowen [Founder of @Astriaorg]. The episode is a highly entertaining marathon that cuts through industry dogma. Josh spazzed on this and went H.A.M.

Despite the propaganda, "based rollups" or "native rollups" do not scale synchronously-composable state on the @ethereum L1:
- If the execution trace is determined beforehand, synchronous composability in any useful sense is impossible.
- If the execution trace is determined by the L1 validator doing execution, execution is no more scalable than L1 EVM execution is already.
If @ethereum seriously wants to scale synchronously composable state on the the L1, @ethereum must go back to execution sharding. There is no alternative.

Lovely conversation with two lovely people! Don't miss the "if you were the Ethereum dictator, what would you do?" question at the end - three cheers for fast finality as #1 priority - it's almost as if we need an "Ethereum dictator preferences" counterparty discovery system...

Counterpoint:
What is modern technology for?
Much of it reveals itself as an engineered silicon valley tactical psyops to accelerate some ubiquitous assimilation with manufactured consent [subscription payments * dopamine drain] which isn’t even a stable equilibrium.
There is no spoon. I love you.
