A countersignal is when an individual or group portrays an image to the world and in doing so reveals truth that is opposite of what they are trying to portray. Take founders, VCs and KOLs shilling memecoins or NFTs. If you are a young person in the CT trenches, you probably see this as a positive signal. Shilling is the ultimate countersignal though. Shills usually don’t believe in anything long-term and their shilling actually signals their lack of belief. They are trying to extract from you.
