Are you noticing more "opinion" pieces decrying BNPL for "normalizing debt" while overlooking that credit cards do the same, but cost you much more? With @Affirm you pay less (if any) in interest and no fees of any kind. So who benefits from these hit pieces? You? Or the banks trying to protect their credit card profits?

Got a lot more attention on the prototype post than i expected. Figured i'd share a bit more about the original idea; the idea for Bitle came to me while i was out in the middle of nowhere in Vermont surrounded by fireflies- no cell, no wifi. I did have Bitchat, yet, no one close enough to chat with. A solar powered autonomous bluetooth node seemed ideal; something small that can pick up the packets from bitchat and relay them along the chain - the ideal setup, i imagined, would be a tiny drone with a solar cell and ~48hrs of battery charge, that would relocate where it was needed, and retire to the sun to recharge when needed. There seems to be few, if any, technological hurdles to make such a product - yet it doesn't exist. Kind of weird, to be honest. The notion of a foundational, ambient node mesh that is just there, ready, able and willing to rearrange, optimize and forward information along seems essential - why don't we have it? We should have it. That was the initial spark for Bitle - even though right now it is a pretty ugly circuit box that is extremely dumb (it just forwards encrypted packets along), it does the job. We should, as a society, have robust, optimized and high bandwidth networks - that's the job of the centralized organizations with massive capital that can lay cables, dig tunnels, etc. But for the people, the notion of an ambient net, as pervasive and essential as air, is what interests me.
