We have three big @pipedream_labs announcements today. The 3rd is the most ambitious project we've ever attempted. Here’s a quick summary thread:
Autonomous Logistics will have an internet sized impact on your day to day life. It's not just going to change how you get things delivered. It's going to change how you live your life.
And this isn't an industry that's coming, it's already here. @zipline has completed 15 million + lifetime deliveries, @MannaAero has completed 200,000+ consumer deliveries in Dublin, and Starship has completed over 8 million sidewalk robot deliveries.
Autonomous logistics is on path to eventually achieve sub-10 minute delivery for less than $1. But it'll never work with our current infrastructure.
The problem: Stores are close but can take 30+ minutes to fulfill orders and are expensive to run. Fulfillment centers are fast but sit too far outside cities. Neither works for the speed autonomy delivers.
Announcement #1: Our First Rapid Fulfillment Center (RFC) The RFC is designed for sub-2 minute dispense to drones/AV’s/pipes/people while holding a large inventory. We shot this announcement video inside our first one.
Sub-2 minutes sounds fast, but it's critical in order to get orders into drones/AVs/pipes quickly to hit that sub-10 minute promise.
But the real secret? How the RFC scales. The Pipedream underground network extends it. Anything in the RFC can reach any portal on the network in minutes for pennies.
Every store, FC, or ghost kitchen plugged into the network becomes part of one massive, instant access inventory, teleporting to your closest portal in minutes for pennies.
This system is powered by the Pipedream Network. The network is system of underground HDPE pipes, fast to permit, install & extend without tearing up roads. Just like water mainlines.
Announcement #2: Meet Otter Our latest robot is what powers this network. 100+ mph. Can carry 132 bananas. Fully autonomous. This is what moves orders through our network.
The first few portals go live in Austin this year. The Austin network can scale upto 40 miles with 100+ portals and will roll out in phases. Texas is becoming ground zero for robots in the wild and will be the perfect testing ground for the network.
This seems hard, but it's already something our team has built a proficiency around.
ONE MORE THING: Autonomous logistics is ready TODAY. Yet retailers still act like it's decades away. They lack either the courage or the foresight to give you the fast/cheap experience you deserve. So instead of continuing to wait, we decided to lead.
Announcement #3: Introducing Goods Grocery Goods is an autonomous-first grocery store powered by the RFC. It's designed to deliver the most convenient pickup and delivery experience in the world.
