Portrait with Rose #705

A rose is a profoundly contradictory symbol, embodying a spectrum of meanings. It has been associated with purity, virginity, life, and tranquillity, yet equally with passion, desire, sorrow, and mourning. In this performance, Marina gazes with a sly squint and a subtle smile, adding an air of playful intrigue. The rose, a central element of the piece, undergoes a mesmerising transformation: it blooms, unveiling its delicate bud, only to close again. This cyclical motion captures the transient beauty of life and the perpetual interplay between revelation and concealment.
